Lindsay Shiver, a former beauty queen from Georgia, has become the focal point of a high-profile legal saga involving allegations of a murder-for-hire plot against her estranged husband, Robert Shiver, a former NFL player. In July 2023, while vacationing in the Bahamas, Lindsay Shiver was arrested alongside her alleged lover, Terrance Bethel, and another man, Faron Newbold Jr. The trio faced accusations of conspiring to murder Robert Shiver. The alleged plot came to light inadvertently during an investigation into a separate break-in at a local bar. Authorities discovered WhatsApp messages on a suspect’s phone detailing the plan, including a message from Lindsay stating, “Kill him,” accompanied by a photo of her husband.
Following their arrest, Lindsay Shiver was granted bail set at $100,000 in December 2023, allowing her to return to the United States under strict conditions. These conditions mandated that she reside at her parents’ home in Alabama and refrain from making any public statements regarding the case. Her co-defendants, Bethel and Newbold Jr., were also released on bail under similar restrictions.
In October 2024, Lindsay’s bail was revoked after she participated in an interview with Good Morning America, a move deemed a violation of her bail conditions, which prohibited pre-trial publicity. The presiding judge viewed this action as a serious breach, leading to her remand back to Fox Hill Prison in Nassau.
The case has experienced multiple delays. Initially, the trial was set for March 2024 but was postponed to July 2024, and then further delayed. In November 2024, the Court of Appeal reserved its decision regarding the revocation of Lindsay Shiver bail, resulting in her continued detention.
Terrance Bethel, identified as Lindsay Shiver alleged lover and co-conspirator, has publicly denied any intent to harm Robert Shiver. In an interview, Bethel stated, “Nobody ever wanted him dead,” suggesting that the incriminating messages were sent in a moment of frustration and were not indicative of a genuine murder plot.
As of February 2025, Lindsay Shiver has been granted bail once again. On February 13, 2025, she was released from Fox Hill Prison under the condition that she refrains from any public commentary about the case. The trial has been rescheduled for August 2025.
The case has also shed light on the tumultuous personal life of the Shivers. Both Lindsay and Robert have filed for divorce, each accusing the other of infidelity and domestic issues. The couple is also embroiled in a custody battle over their children and the division of their $2.5 million home.
