The meet also acts as a qualifier for Team USA heading to the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo this September. In most events, the top three finishers who have met qualification standards will earn a place on the team
Some current world champions like Noah Lyles, Grant Holloway, and Sha’Carri Richardson already have byes for their main events. Still, many of them are expected to compete and challenge records at nationals
Noah Lyles (100m and 200m): Although he has a bye to the world championships, Lyles plans to compete in the 200m and try for a fifth national title
Sha’Carri Richardson: She already has a spot in the 100m but may race in the 200m
Gabby Thomas (200m): Looking for her fourth national title in this event
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone: Normally a 400m hurdles specialist, this year she will compete in the open 400m
Cole Hocker: One of the favorites in the 1500m
Bryce Hoppel, Donavan Brazier, and Josh Hoey: All strong contenders in the men’s 800m, featuring three of the fastest Americans ever
